Your product isn’t the problem. Your $0 budget for customer acquisition is.
Most founders waste 6 months obsessing over packaging, logos, and features — only to launch a beautiful Shopify store that nobody ever visits. They pour everything into the product and almost nothing into getting eyes on it.
That’s backwards. And it’s killing their chances.
Customer acquisition costs have skyrocketed more than 220% in the past 8 years, while competition has exploded in nearly every category.
Why it matters:
• A great product nobody sees doesn't become a business.
• Meta and Google ads are more expensive than ever.
• The "build it and they will come" playbook is dead.
Winning brands think distribution first.
They build:
• An email list before launch.
• An audience on social media.
• SEO content that compounds over time.
• Partnerships, creators, and communities that drive trust.
Most importantly, they understand their numbers.
A $150 CAC can be fantastic if your customer is worth $1,000 over their lifetime. The same CAC can destroy a business if your customer only spends $180.
Bottom line: Before investing another dollar in product development, invest time into your acquisition strategy. The brands that win won't necessarily have the best products.
They'll have the best distribution.
