Running a Shopify store just became more self-serve. Like it or not.

Shopify quietly cut roles in its partnerships division. Entire teams are gone. This isn’t internal drama. It affects how you run your store.

The real impact on merchants:

  • Less human support. If getting a partner manager felt hard before, expect even less access now. Shopify is removing high-touch help.

  • More automation and AI. Shopify is going all-in on agentic commerce. That means tools that act for you — but only if your setup is clean.

  • Self-reliant stores win. The days of “let me ask my Shopify contact” are ending. Stores with strong ops, clear data, and solid tools will move faster.

  • Ecosystem stays strong — but colder. Shopify still pays partners over $1B a year. They just want systems, not relationships.
