Amazon just said their prices are 14% lower than major U.S. retailers.

Here’s the part no one wants to say: that 14% gap is the new death zone for any Shopify brand that isn’t niche, premium, or great at telling a story.

If your edge in 2026 is “we’re a bit cheaper” or “we ship fast,” you’re done. The cash-flow heart attack just hasn’t hit yet.

The winners next year? Brands that sell identity, belonging, and a bit of theater. Think Gymshark. Liquid Death. Olipop. Chamberlain Coffee. Everyone else gets squeezed between Amazon’s race-to-the-bottom and Temu/Shein’s race-to-zero.

Harsh? Yes. True? Also yes.
