🤖 ARE BOTS STEALING YOUR NEWSLETTER READERS?
As ecommerce and DTC marketers, we work hard to make our emails fun and interesting for our readers. But lately, we've noticed a big problem - bots are joining our email lists and making it seem like more people are reading our newsletters than there really are.
These bots are computer programs that can automatically open emails and click on links, even if no real person is reading the content.
Suddenly, it looks like a ton of people are super interested in what we're sending out. But really, it's just these bots fooling us. This wrong information can lead us to make bad decisions about what kind of content and offers to include in our newsletters in the future.
Bots don't just waste our time - they can also create security risks. Malicious bots may use newsletter sign-ups as a way to distribute computer viruses or launch phishing attacks to try to trick our readers. And competitors can even use bots to secretly monitor the strategies we're using in our email marketing.
So what can we do to stop these bots from ruining our newsletter performance? The article recommends steps like using CAPTCHA tests and closely analyzing subscriber engagement patterns to identify and filter out bot activity. Taking a proactive, multi-pronged approach is key to protecting our email lists and getting an accurate picture of our real audience.
The article "Why Bots Are Clicking on Your Newsletters" explains how this bot activity can mess up the data we use to measure how well our newsletters are doing. Click here to read the full article.
