🔥 BIG CHANGES FOR DTC BRANDS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

US President Trump imposed major tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. While North American tariffs are on pause until March, the 10% tariff on Chinese imports took effect Tuesday. This means rising costs for DTC brands that rely on Chinese suppliers.

A major shift: The de minimis exemption, which allowed shipments under $800 to avoid tariffs, is now gone for most Chinese imports. This change hits fast fashion and low-cost e-commerce brands the hardest, as many relied on duty-free imports to stay profitable.

Chinese e-commerce giants like PDD Holdings and JD.com saw stock drops, while U.S. platforms like Etsy gained. Meanwhile, brands are scrambling to adapt—some exploring U.S.-based warehousing and shifting production to avoid extra costs.
